What you'll learn
- understand how to assist your child in developing, writing, and reading simple 3, 4, 5, and 6 sound words;
- understand how to correct your child when he or she makes a mistake in reading or writing these words;
- Improve your understanding of how the English alphabet code works by reinforcing the idea that sounds can be spelled with just one or two letters;
- improve segmenting, blending, and phoneme manipulation skills to mastery level in the context of words with consonant clusters;
- develop new code knowledge (<sh>, <ch>, <th>, <ck>, <ng>, <wh>, and <q> and <u>)
Focuses on initial code units 8 to 11 of the Sounds-Write phonics program. Learners practice segmenting, blending, and phoneme manipulation for words with consonant clusters and new spellings such as sh, ch, th, ck, wh, and qu. Afterwards they can support a child in reading and writing three- to six-sound words.
